Songkran @ Bangkok, Thailand

This round I took a 13 hours bus ride from Phnom Penh, Cambodia all the way to Bangkok City. It's a mid night sleeper bus at USD25/pax/ way.
Strongly not recommended. The so called "sleeper bus" is 1.2M height, and the "bed" is too tiny, have to squeeze! If you are bigger size, perhaps you need to get 2 seats in order to enjoy the comfort. Normal seating bus is good. Personal opinion.

As I travelling alone this round, I decided to stay in hostel dorm. I am very lucky to get a Female dorm at "Hi! Mid Bangkok." It's located very near to BTS station that makes travel easier. it's not cheap at all, 1 night cost THB390/bed (AC). However, their staff are very friendly, helpful. The place is clean and breakfast provided. There are private room as well. Hostel with good wifi connection and fridge available. Self laundry available at THB50, if you need dryer, another THB50.

Taxi to every place approximately THB100.

A tourist Express boat at Sapan Taksin (BTS) at THB150/day/ pax can brings you to most of the tourist attraction area such as Grand Palace (entrance THB500/pax), Reclining Buddha (entrance THB100/pax), China Town, Oriental Hotel (top 10 best service hotel in the world), Khao San Road Night Market... etc.

Cheapest and best places to shop is Weekend Chatucak Market (closed at 5pm, very verry huge, you need 1/2 day here), Pratunam Market (opposite platinum mall, closed at 5pm too), and Platinum mall (indoor AC shopping mall, can bargain). Majority stuff with price tag cannot bargain. As for clothes, you can easily get it from THB100 ~ 200. for some outdated one, you can get it at THB50 each.

Songkran in Thailand, is the largest festival in Thailand itself and it's the largest water festival in the world. The Festival kick start on 13 April, in most places will only celebrate for 3 days. However, beach area like Pattaya, Krabi, Koh Samui, Phi Phi Island will celebrate for 7 days!

Songkran, is also known as New Year for Thai. It is a festival for one to experience the peoples, the culture, the fun and the joy! It's not a time for those SHOPPERS as most of the shops are closed.

During Songkran, People will pour water to you or put the flour on your face and body. These represent to wipe off and wash off whatever bad things in the past year and welcoming a great new year. As times goes by, nowaday, lesser people pouring water but replacing with water gun.

Water gun is selling everywhere, price from THB50 ~ 300.

For me, it doesnt matter you use water gun or small tub... you'll still get WET!

For those who doesnt want to get wet, they will wear a rain coat and people will understand and will not against you! But, personally do not advise that as you do not show the respect to the local culture. If you really hate to get wet, please do not visit Thailand during Songkran!

I am quite surprise and honor to the people. They know where they can play water and where is not. Those fabric seller no need to worry their clothes will get wet. Shopping mall are dried too. BTS, MRT are good also. They seems no security guard and no police there to ensure nobody pouring water in those places. Peoples seems well educated and automatic not doing it. This is so cool!

Experience Songkran, at least once in ur lifetime is good enough! ^^ I hope you have chance to try it next time!

1/2 day floating market tour is good enough. I paid THB 600/pax, but i realize after that others are paying THB400 ~ 550 only!
